User interface enhancements - Filter panel and Multi Select

MobileWorks is continuously striving to improve the usability and functionality of MaestroLIVE, the latest changes are to the filter panel, multi select and actions.

Filter Panel

The filter panel has always been an important tool to allow users to select what should be displayed in the columns below based on certain criteria, but with the advent of “dynamic property” support, the functionality was not able to use these new dynamic properties as the search criteria. This update addresses this shortcoming, and dynamic properties are now fully supported.

You use the filter panel as before, but are now able to select the various options that are created whenever a user defines a new dynamic property.

One point to be aware of - if you use the filter panel, and select a field that happens to be looking at a dynamic property, it is possible for the list to appear “incomplete”. It will not necessarily show you all the possible options that can be chosen by a user of they so desire. This is NOT an error - rather MaestroLIVE filter panels are designed to only show you the choices actually made. In other words, just because an option has been defined when the dynamic property was created, this does not mean it is used. And the filter panel will only show those values that are used.

Now you have made the selection and displayed the rows you want, you can use the next updates.

 

Multi Select

If you look to the very left of any row in the displayed table you can now see a check box, and if you look to the very top of the table, you can see the “Select All” check box - all standard fare that had been missing from MaestroLIVE till now.

Again as is typical, the “Select all” actually selects all the rows in that screen, NOT all the rows that might make up this dataset. As is also typical, the MaestroLIVE default row count per page is 25 rows - but MaestroLIVE gives you an option to change this to 50, 75 or 100. Look at the top of the table, and to the right, you will see the record count, but you can also see a “Page Limit” and a drop down box that will normally have the value “25” displayed. Click here to change.

Now if you click on the “Select All” option you can be selected 25, 50, 75 or 100 records at a time. If you do not want to select all, just a number of rows, use the checkbox of each individual row.

Once you have made the selection, you now need to do something to the items selected. To do this, you click on the “Actions” button that you can see at the top of the screen, to the very right of the blue “Create New” button. Click here, and you typically get two options; Update, Delete.

If you click on “Update” another dialog is shown, this is the same dialog you would see if you happened to press “Create New”, but now all the fields are, by default, disabled.

This is done to ensure you do not make accident updates with information you did not want!

Click on the check box you will find to the left of every row to enable the field. You can now use the properties that are defined for this field to make the changes as required. You can enable as few or as many fields as you need to update.

Once satisfied you have made all the changes required, click on the “Update” button. MaestroLIVE will now show you a progress bar as every selected row is updated with the defined changes.

And these are the latest changes, As always, comments and suggestions are welcome and in fact encouraged.
